The film begins Lord Srirama in his exile period reaches Atri Mahamuni's Ashram where his wife Anasuya narrates Sita a story of an ardently devoted wife Sumathi whose husband Kaushika is a debauchery person who gets attracted to a prostitute Mohanangi but Sumathi never says a word against him and also gives away all her belongings.
